This year’s US elections are the most important in decades, if not longer. The candidature of Bernie Sanders may lead to a genuine socialist being elected as US President. Just as important, the Sanders campaign is accompanied by a mass campaign from below which is organising huge meetings and connecting with existing campaigns.
Whatever the media say, the Sanders campaign is not going away. Despite the democracy deficit in the US voting system, he is running neck-and-neck with the Establishment’s preference for the Democrats’ candidate, Hillary Clinton. It seems that much will depend on the Democrat Convention at the end of July.
Directly after the Convention, you have the chance to discuss the election campaign with Victor Grossman, veteran US-American socialist. If Hillary is the Democratic candidate, can socialists support her? If Sanders, is an election campaign enough? What do we do about Donald Trump? Come along and say what you think.
Discussion in English with translation on request. 26 July at 7pm in Karl Liebknecht Haus, Kleine Alexanderstraße on Rosa Luxemburg Platz.
