Soul Kino is not a project that we are organising, but members of ours are involved, and we will publicise the events. The idea is a monthly film in the B-Lage, on an international and political theme, usually on the fourth Sunday of the month.
Planned so far are:
- 25 September: Chile – “Missing”
- 23 October: Brazil/Venezuela
- 27 November: Violence against women
Dani and Ana are working on it. More information to follow soon.
Monthly introduction to local literature
This is something that’s under construction (and we hope we can find a better title soon). Here’s the idea: every month, someone introduces a text (either a novel or non-fiction) from or about their home country, or a country to which they feel close.
The first meeting is planned for the week of 10-17 October, with a discussion on the Basque country, probably in the cellar of the Coop Cafe. Ana and others will prepare this meeting.
If anyone is interested in organising a similar presentation, please contact us.
Other cultural events
We will try and organise other concerts, plays and cinema events, but not on a regular basis. In particular, we’ll contact the Moviemento and ask if they are interested in continuing to organise joint events with us.
Our suggested date for our Christmas Party is Saturday, 10 December. If anyone knows of a conflicting event, please let us know ASAP. We will see if we can book the Coop Café, as well as musicians like Kaveh and Cigir. If you want to suggest any other musicians, please contact us. Dani and Ferat have said they can DJ – let us know if anyone else is interested. We’ll talk about more details at the next meeting.
The next meeting – open to anyone who’s interested – is planned for Thursday 29th September in the café of the Brecht Haus (Chauseestraße 125). We need to check the opening times before we say when we’ll start.
