What is the Forced Walks project?

On 4th and 5th February, 71 years after Esther Brunstein and other survivors of the Lodz Ghetto and Auschwitz were marched at gunpoint from the slave labour camp near Hanover to Belsen, Forced Walks intends to retrace their steps, ending at the Belsen-Bergen Memorial.

The march will stop at points along the way to listen to Esther’s testimony and other thoughts and sounds. At those points they will share as much as they can of the experience via social media, and welcome online interaction with those who want to share it with us.

They will gather sounds and images from those moments as they walk the route 71 years to the day that Esther did. You can find more information from the Forced Walks Website.
