On THURSDAY Dr Jenny Farrell will be presenting her book on Shakespeare’s tragedies and their relevance today. 7.30 pm, Jugend[Widertands]Museum, Rigerstraße 9 (U-Bahn Frankfurter Tor)

And on SUNDAY there is the next SoulKino film on Cuba. 19h30 in the B-Lage, Mareschstraße 1 (S-Bahn Sonnenallee)

Two small final points: anyone who wants to help at our stall at the European Left conference this week-end please get in touch. Also a couple of people have not claimed their tickets for Nina Hagen’s concert of Bertolt Brecht songs at the Berliner Ensemble on Sunday night. They cost €5 and are available to the first people who contact us. Contact is, as ever lag.internationals@die-linke-berlin.de

Christmas Party and European Left Conference in Berlin

Hi everyone

We met today to organise Saturday’s party, and there’s also some new info on the European Left Conference the week-end after, so look below, or scroll down depending on what you need to know:

PARTY ON SATURDAY

o-jeremy-corbyn-facebookHere’s all the latest information

BRING SOME FOOD…

Our quest for multi-cultural eating – everyone’s invited to bring along some food typical for your country (or someone else’s if you must). Buffet opens at 8pm, so try to get the food there by then

…OR HELP US BUY SOME

We will have a crack team buying cakes and stuff before the party starts. Meeting poiut is 5.30pm in front of Edeka at Hackescher Markt. We’re still looking for help here, so if you can be there, please contact us at lag.internationals@die-linke-berlin.de

IT ALL KICKS OFF AT 6PM

In the Co-op café, Rochstraße 3, 5 minutes walk from Alexanderplatz.

Get there on time if you want to see this film (highly recommended):

FOLLOWED BY THE FIRST DJ SET FROM SOULKINO

Also, the buffet opens, a couple of hellos and getting to know each other and raffle with great prizes (a reader writes: “that is literally so capitalist”).

9.30ISH LIVE MUSIC FROM KAVEH

This sort of stuff

THEN MORE SOULKINO MUSIC

Also find out if you’ve won the great capitalist raffle.

AND WHAT ARE WE GOING TO CALL IT ALL?

We don’t really want to call it a Christmas party, not cause we’re militant atheists, but as quite a few of us come from cultures with an only marginal relationship to Jesus. So, until we think up a better title, prepare yourselves for the “seasonal party to celebrate the 147th anniversary of women getting the vote in Wyoming”

HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON

EUROPEAN LEFT CONFERENCE 16-18 DECEMBER

el-logo-460pxThe conference will be taking place in Berlin this year, from 16th – 18th December. Its in the bcc near the Alexa shopping centre in Alexanderplatz.

There will be a women’s conference on Friday between midday and 3pm. This is open to all women – you don’t have to be a delegate.

We are helping with the registration and other things all over the week-end. Everyone who has so far offered to help should have been contacted by Oliver Schroeder. If Oli has not contacted you, or you want to offer to help now, please contact us at lag.internationals@die-linke-berlin.de

On top of helping Die LINKE International department, we will also have our own stand:

  • if your organisation (HDP, IU, Podemos etc) has leaflets or other information we could use on the stand, please contact us and say what you want to use.
  • If you can help on the stand, please contact us. This means that you will also be able to watch the conference. Officially we only have passes for 3 people at any one time, so try to let us know in advance when you’ll be there, so we can set up some sort of shift plan. (but please feel free to turn up spontaneously and we’ll sort you out somehow).

I think that was most things. If anything’s unclear, please get in touch.
