Forced Walks project honouring Holocaust survivor Esther Brunstein: Niedersachsen 4.-5. Februar

DEUTSCHE VERSION FOLGT

On Holocaust Memorial Day, the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, we would like to invite you to support the Forced Walks project, honouring Holocaust Survivor, Esther Brunstein. On 4 and 5 February, relatives, friends and supporters of Esther will be following the walk from the slave labour camp near Hanover to the concentration camp in Belsen in Lower Saxony, Germany.

If you would like to join the walk, it will be starting at the Zühlke garden centre in Hambühren-Ovelgönne on Thursday, 4 February, shortly after 10.30am. This is on the site of the ‘Judenlager’ camp ‘Waldeslust” and it will be exactly 71 years to the day that Esther and death march left from here.

During the walk, you will hear interventions from and about Esther. You can find the planned schedule at https://theleftberlin.wordpress.com/forced-walks/how-to-follow-and-join-the-honouring-esther-walk-live-without-walking/, but follow the Website and Twitter account listed on this page for exact details.

New Banner

Hi folks

Our banner (pictured below) has seen lots of demos  in the past year, and probably will see a lot more. However there are some demos which are not about austerity (although of course all of them are ultimately about austerity). For this reason, we’re going to get a new banner and are looking for a new slogan.

So far, the idea is to have an anti-racist slogan (for example “Refugees Welcome” in different languages), but we want to spend some time collecting ideas for a new slogan.

You have till our next organising meeting on Thursday, 18 February to send your suggestions to lag.internationals[at]die-linke-berlin.de. After that we’ll decide on a new slogan and you should see our banner at the next big demo.
